Hi people-
Discussion Topic: Did Montoya really speed down the pit road? Was NASCAR controlling the race outcome by dinging him on that? What can Montoya do? He can't request to review the footage -- NASCAR owns it. He swore (read in a Spanish accent!) on his mother, his wife and his cheeeeeeldren that he was not speeding! Had he not been penalized, Chip would have won handily this week, picking 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10. But, alas, he ends up picking 1,2,3, 10 and 11 instead....AND STILL WINS. Thank god. I would hate for Chip to have to go hop on a plane in Burbank, break into Mike Helton's office in Daytona Beach, throttle him, and end up in jail. Because last time I was in Daytona, I didn't even get to see the beach (ahem, CHIP), so if I have to fly to Daytona to bail him out -- I am going to the beach first!
You know who really benefited from the penalty? Erik. He had awesome picks that did not include Montoya (picked 1, 2, 3, 9, 15). Congrats on an awesome second place score, Erik.
Anyway, results:
Chip -- 5.4
Erik -- 6
Melody -- 7.6
JC -- 9
John -- 9.4
Ali -- 19.8*
(*not a typo)
Next up -- Pocono (again!?).

Montoya was the wild card for sure... great pick Chip! I had to pick so early, I didn't know Edwards would qualify like Bill Elliot.. on owner's points. Sad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting my picks in also JC.. I still hadn't seen the link open to post picks. Appreciate you handling it.
So did anyone notice Chad Knaus not kissing the bricks? Pretty sad.
So... wait a sec...
ReplyDelete1. I FINALLY pick Mark Martin AND I win and I get NO LOVE from the Commish?! Come on!! 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10 - when was the last time I did that? As a matter of fact, she goes so far out of her way as to actually say that Erik had the awesome picks (yeah, he did - not the point). Maybe that hair bleaching agent is getting to you Commish. No beach for you, blondy! If I go to jail, it'll be because of my string of Facebook killings of which you are on the list.
2. Did I read that right - 19.8 for Ali 2 weeks in a row. OK, I've had a shit year with HORRIBLE finishes - but, Damn.
3. I could grab Montoya by the neck and hurt him so bad that his cheeeeeeldren's cheeeeldren could feel it.
LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThe best part is that Ali finished with a 19.8 TWO WEEKS IN A ROW!! Hahahaha. There should be some sort of award for that.
No problem, Erik. :)
Chip, man, you know I don't reward people who pick Mark Martin (or the Busch brothers). I'm so over that old dude. :)
Montoya's finish sure wasn't bad at all... it's not like you picked him at Sonoma.. there is a certain gamble here that is still greater than a road course... 10th for him here is a good finish imo... hell, he was wrecking all the time.. and his moves like going down on the apron to rub Logano still make him highly risky.. surprised he didn't get black flagged for that.
ReplyDeleteMartin is this years Carl Edwards... Winning races.. still low in the points. Get on board Jen. :)
Great finish Chip... really solid picks.
