So my favorite thing about this year's chase is that during each and every race, I receive a text message from Chip saying something like, "Damn, Hamlin really screwed me this week," or "Man, I hate Kyle Busch, he really screwed me today." I always answer with something like, "Yah, I know, one of my picks crashed too," or something similarly nice. But what I really want to say is, "Chip -- Have you SEEN the standings for our league?! Hamlin 'screwed you?' Like you could advance yourself out of last place if only Hamlin had finished better this week?" LOL! Oh, sweet, delusional Chip. How you bring joy to my Sundays.
Anyway, John wins this week, by picking drivers 1, 2, 3, and avoiding the pitfalls of Hamlin, Montoya and Carl Edwards. Congrats John!

This coming from the woman who spent two years picking Rusty Wallace for every race and up through last year picked based on a Cuteness Factor, or what I like to call picking on a Kahne Kurve with Stewart Statistics.
ReplyDeleteOK, Miss Commish, let's think about this rationally. Many weeks ago I conceded that there was no way that I was going to get out of last place, much less win this year. Remember our phone call? So, "delusional" is a bit overstated. I'm very "lusional". I think I said just 2 or 3 weeks ago that I was just hoping to get to a 13.x cum. avg. position.
That said, and feel free to correct me, while I can't attest to where the driver might have actually finished, in better than 8 or so of the last 12 races my picks were pretty solid (that's right, look back and see). And generally ONE driver, WHO WAS OTHERWISE RUNNING VERY WELL NEAR THE END OF THE RACE, ended up in a crash or having an issue (i.e. Fucking Hamlin and Fucking Kyle). Now, I get that that's the chance you take when you bet, we've all been through it, and it's just how the proverbial cookie crumbles, but essentially isn't that the epitome of "being screwed", as we have come to use that saying? Haven't you used that very saying in your updates: "And this week Ali, Chip and John got screwed by "fill in the blank". For Christ sake, it's not like I picked Ambrose and then complained when he can't even start his car.
So, I may have had it coming with all the shit I've given you when you were losing to me for like 20 weeks in a row. I'm just saying, Lady Luck is a fickle bitch. She's got her keys, picked up her purse and headed for the door - leavin' your German car drivin' ass.
